Big Fish The movie Big Fish is a fantasy drama, directed by Tim Burton who has also directed a number of good movies like Alice in the Wonderland, Corpse Bride, Batman and many more. The movie is based on the book Big Fish which is the novel of Mythic proportion by Southern writer Daniel Wallace. The story depicts the relationship between the son and his dying father with lots of adventures and great feelings where fantasy takes place. Edward Bloom (Albert Finney), who performed as the lead character in the movie, is a ambitious, determined, and social person. He used to tell his son a fictitious story about his adventurous life whereas his son, Will Bloom (Billy Crudup), hardly believed his dad. Edward is really a good dad, but for his son, his dad is a bad dad because Will always think that his dad always lied to him and told him fictitious stories. Will is the fact- based journalist, and that is why he believes only in the reality and the facts. When he knew his father is dying, he comes home to meet his dad and mom, Sandra (Jessica Lange), with his wife, Josephine (Marion Cotillard).He wants to try one more time to know about the truth of his father, to feel like he really knows his father. Once again, Edward tells his story from his past about how he met the giants, a witch, a werewolf, weird town, a highly unusual singing sister and the love of his life who was already engaged to someone else. The movie has lots of irony that I do not like that much and just create a bit confusion.Gaints never meet the city, but he reached the circus and met the goal of the life. Creates the story about how his father dies, which i felt to be ironic . There are lots of things that I like in the movie like special effects, value of the relationship and the social pressure. Talking about the special effects, there appears to be an idealic town like the heaven. Spooky woods with jumping spider and grabbing trees, a thunderstorm that makes the car jump on the tree, Edward’s birth, the way of repairing the house, and the journey of his entire life are other special effects that has made the movie more interesting. The value of relationship that this movie contains is really appreciable. Both father and son are really loyal to their spouse. Next, music has played a very vital role in this movie. It is the music that has made the movie more interesting. It gives us the sense about what is happening in the movie, whether it’s romantic, scary or tragic, and so on. It has given the social pressure of telling the truth and as a person, it gives the lesson of being honest. I did not find any villain in this movie except the truth because Edward has his own version of the truth and Will has his own, which creates the fiction and clash between the relationship of father and son. Edward Bloom always dares to do lots of risky and new things. Will, still doubting his father, he makes a mysterious journey to know the truth . He meets all the persons that his father mentioned in his flamboyant story. At the end of the movie, Will is the person who actually changes from the factual story teller to the fictious teller and ends the story actually being the hero even though it seemed like Edward is the real hero at the beginning of the movie, and teach viewers the lesson of connection, understanding ,and forgiveness. Big Fish is an enchanting story of the love between a father and son , where fantasy and lack of truth become the dividing line between them. It is actually the story of stories themselves , since the beginning of the story ,where Edward whispered to his sleepy child until the end of the story, where the son tells his father to make him comfortable as he is about to die. It is the outstanding movie that deserves our attention more than the mundane. It is the story, which captures the emotion of a person with its captivating tales, delightful screenplay, and a powerful; acting. This movie will bring tears in audiences ’eyes. It also motivates the people not to be afraid and care about what other says about us. This movie refers that how beautiful a true love can be. This movie really touched my heart and soul. It will always be in my favorites list. I would recommend everyone to watch this movie at least once in their life time.
