Feather Falls Casino prepares for reopening.
The gaming floor is eerily dark and quiet. The lounges are deserted. A skeleton crew of security guards keeps a vigilant eye on the property. But despite the COVID-19 shutdown, Feather Falls Casino in Oroville, CA hums with activity.
Taking advantage of this unforeseen absence of guests, management made the decision to move forward with scheduled maintenance projects and upgrades to the facilities. Our top priority was a new ventilation system that would not only freshen the air on the gaming floor, but also help to combat viruses and bacteria in the atmosphere and on surfaces. With the installation of Casino Air’s specialized system, our facility is noticeably fresher and more pleasing. This upgrade, along with the extensive disinfectant cleaning performed throughout the gaming area, should bring comfort and reassurance to our guests when we reopen.

Another project on the schedule was the installation of a larger generator for our onsite hotel, The Lodge at Feather Falls Casino. Mandatory electricity outages affecting our area last summer made it clear that our 84-room facility (a Trip Advisor Hall-of-Famer) was due for a power boost. The Lodge remains open in a minimal capacity, housing first responders, vendors, and local community managers.
Our maintenance crews didn’t stop there. They have remodeled a pair of high-usage restrooms on the gaming floor and performed a major electrical upgrade in our award-winning KOA Campground. A scheduled demolition and rebuilding of one of our largest cocktail lounge has been expedited to begin during this shutdown.
While every casino department has stepped up to keep the property clean and secure, the Food & Beverage department has used this opportunity to the best effect. Feather Falls Brewing Company, our microbrew and restaurant facility, is a shining star in the community with curbside to-go food and beer offerings. Instituted just three weeks before the start of the pandemic, this service has proved pivotal in our efforts to serve the public and to maintain our brand awareness. Our brewers continue to can and distribute the popular craft beers that customers enjoy.
Sales of both our food and beer shine a light on the casino’s connectedness to the community, even when gaming is not an option. With this in mind, General Manager Ed Gilbert envisions a new concept for our buffet. “It’s time to move beyond the model of shared utensils, plates, and food,” says Gilbert. “We will create a custom build-your-own-burger line to complement our current Mongolian-style BBQ line. We believe our guests will appreciate this step toward a more hygienic model of food service.”

Gilbert goes on to express the benefits of Feather Falls Casino’s unique business style. “Because of our ability to provide curbside to-go food and craft beer, we’ve been able to furnish our Tribal Elders with a daily meal and keep many of our employees on the schedule. We’re also bringing a sense of normalcy to our community.” He would like to recognize “Mooretown Rancheria, our family of employees, and our entire community for coming together closer than ever before, even with social distancing”. Gilbert feels confident that Feather Falls Casino will come out of this unprecedented event “stronger and better than before. “

This week has been challenging for everyone. With things rapidly changing, sometimes even every hour, we have been navigating through it, given the information available at the time. We appreciate everyone’s patience and support, as we have adjusted our operations throughout this week.
As of Friday, March 20, Feather Falls Casino and Lodge is closed. The Brewery will remain open for curbside pickup.

The Tribal Council will be paying all employees 2 weeks of pay for the weeks of 3/22- 3/28 and 3/29 – 4/4. Benefits will be maintained through the end of April.

Feather Falls Brewery will be closed for dine-in service beginning at 4pm today until further notice. We will still be offering Curbside To-Go, call in your to-go order to 530-534-4050, park in front of the Curbside To-Go sign, and let us bring a bag of deliciousness out to your car! We will offer this service daily from 11am-9pm. * NO CASH TRANSACTIONS! *

In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Feather Falls Casino will be closing the following restaurants & bars to comply with the Governor’s request.

- The Brewery (Curb-Side delivery will continue; the Brewery will be closed to dine-in guests)
For our Feather Falls Casino Family, all displaced employees will be offered cleaning or sanitizing positions to assist with the shutdown of these locations as well as the sanitation of the Casino floor. Our high standards continue to be in place, including hand sanitizer stations throughout the facility. Our employees continue to implement the best hygiene practices to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Our facilities are cleaned with industrial-strength sanitizers. We also have facemasks available to customers as well as employees.
